And Bronson doesn't believe the clinics overprescribe. Of course, you shouldn't go to a retail clinic for a serious emergency - if you think you have appendicitis, get yourself to the hospital. CVS is not the place for your annual checkup, either. And babies are not us: Most clinics won't see children under 2. Clinics can't order blood work or X-rays. ";We can see someone with an uncomplicated urinary tract infection, but if we then see back tenderness, which can be an indication for a kidney infection, we will send them to the urgent care center.

Health gets personal in the cloud. My family is scattered around the country and caring for our mother with advanced stage Alzheimer's was quite a challenge that would have benefited from this type of service. I think the Dark-Side, firms like Google, Microsoft, and Oracle look at the confusion and lack of planning in terms of what the final EHR/PHR platform will look like and they simply drool

The values we envisage are of democracy, transparency, human rights and the rule of law.".. Kiniklioglu was referring to remarks by Van Rompuy in the Belgian parliament in 2004 that "Turkey is not a part of Europe and will never be part of Europe" The comments have been widely seen in Turkey as chiming with opposition to Turkish membership as voiced by President Nicolas Sarkozy of France and the German chancellor, Angela Merkel The EU voted unanimously to begin accession talks with Turkey in 2004, prompting an initial outpouring of pro-European enthusiasm in the country.

Will you follow new guidelines on cervical cancer screening'. New guidelines say women can wait until age 21 to have their first Pap smear. And most women in their 20s can wait to be tested every two years instead of annually. Doctors conclude that's enough to catch slow-growing cervical cancer. The new guidelines on cervical cancer screening come just days after a government panel said women should wait until age 50 for mammogram breast cancer screening. Newsvine is msnbc.com's social-news community where you can discuss stories, publish your own column, and connect with other news lovers. Yes. Every two years is enough to detect cervical cancer

I was recently in my hometown of New Martinsville visiting my dad , a retired family physician. When I arrived he had waiting for me a copy of one of my grandfather's medical records from the 1930s. My grandfather, Dr. Albert Coffield , practiced rural medicine in Wetzel County, West Virginia from 1911 until his death in 1936 My dad told me the following story about the medical record My dad was a doctor who practiced out of his house on Coffield Ridge in Wetzel County.

You often hear an advertiser say, "radio and television advertising are too fragmented - it's just not effective anymore.? And then you will hear some say, "Social media is so good because you can really drill down and finely tune your target audience.? . While both statements have some truth in them, it's very confusing. Healthcare Advertising: Is Television Dying'. Create a Social Media Policy for Your Hospital. The 10 Commandments of Social Media.

EMR EHR and HIPAA. health care strategist. Posted by Paul Roemer on November 20, 2009.. Here are a few more thoughts just to Emerilize the discussion - to kick it up a notch.  Not only do I think the national EHR market is ripe for the taking by a big three like Microsoft, Google, and Oracle, I'll go so far to suggest that when the dust settles in 5-7 years, the N-HIN, the National Health Information Network, will be a regulated combination of a handful of those firms. As for the other firms offering or planning to offer PHRs, permit me to suggest the following scenario.  Let's say I am in charge of Google's so far somewhat nonexistent healthcare line of business
